App Catalog
The App Catalog is the central directory for every published Data App in your organization. You use it to discover apps that others have built, launch apps that are relevant to your work, and organize your own apps for easy access.
Browsing the Catalog
When you open the App Catalog, you see a grid of app cards. Each card displays the app's name, a brief description, its category, and the date it was last published. You can switch between grid view and list view depending on your preference.
The catalog displays only the apps you are authorized to access. If a Data App has sharing policies that exclude your account or role, it does not appear in your catalog view.
Use the search bar at the top of the catalog to filter apps by name or keyword. If you know the category you are looking for, use the category filter to narrow results instantly.
App Categories
Every Data App can be assigned to one or more categories. Categories help you organize apps by function, team, domain, or any taxonomy that makes sense for your organization.
| Example Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Operations | Dashboards and tools for day-to-day operational monitoring. |
| Finance | Financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting apps. |
| Sales | Pipeline tracking, territory management, and quota apps. |
| Engineering | System health, deployment metrics, and infrastructure apps. |
| Custom | Any organization-defined category that fits your needs. |
Administrators can create and manage categories from the platform settings. When you build an app in the App Builder, you assign it to one or more categories before publishing.
Selecting and Launching an App
To launch a Data App from the catalog:
- Locate the app -- Browse or search the catalog to find the app you need.
- Select the app card -- Click on the app card to open its detail panel. The detail panel shows a summary, the current version, the publisher, and any additional metadata.
- Launch the app -- Click the Launch button to open the app in a new view. The app loads with live data, and all widgets begin rendering immediately.
You can also pin frequently used apps to your Quick Access bar for one-click launching from anywhere in the platform.
The catalog always shows the most recently Published version of an app. Draft and Archived versions are not visible in the catalog. If you need access to a previous version, contact the app owner or check the version history in the App Builder.
Catalog Permissions
Your visibility into the catalog depends on two factors:
- Platform role -- Your role determines whether you can browse the catalog at all.
- App-level sharing -- Each app's sharing configuration determines which users and groups can see and launch it.
If you expect to see an app but it does not appear in your catalog, verify with the app owner that your account or group has been added to the app's member list.
